David Justison is no stranger to high-yield fields. Now, his latest milestone includes becoming a part of the AgVenture Gold Club. Planting AgVenture brand AV36B2E soybeans, he was pleased to average 87 bu/A. “Despite not having rain at the end of the growing season, 87 bushels was good. AV36B2E is an excellent number health wise, it stands well and allowed us to harvest earlier.”

For the past several years David has worked with John Howell, General Sales Manager with Wehmeyer Seed (an AgVenture independent seed company) to select AgVenture hybrids and varieties for his fields. For David, the decision comes down to trust and predictability. “They are very good people and have good suggestions on what should be planted,” David shared. “What I like about AgVenture it that it’s dependable– the way it’s described is what it’s going to do.”

Incorporating over ten different AgVenture soybean varieties this past season, they used plot data and maturity ranges to help guide their decisions. “As we look at yield plots, we like that AgVenture is consistently at or near the top,” explained David. The 3.6 maturity with the Enlist E3® trait in AgVenture brand AV36B2E was a good fit in the field. “It will be in the lineup again - AV36B2E is a good sturdy variety that withstands a lot of stress and consistently yields.”

Achieving winning yields is a direct result of over 60 years of dedication to improving and growing the family farm. Alongside his brother, David has expanded their farm from 80 to 8,000 acres, primarily growing corn, soybeans and wheat throughout Macon, Christian, Montgomery, and Fayette counties in Illinois.

“Family is what’s most important,” David stressed. “Seeing my young grandchildren wear out the carpet with their little tractors, disc and combines - that’s why we keep going.”

And that feeling of family is what keeps David coming back to AgVenture brand seed year-over-year. He highlights, “AgVenture cares about the producer, I can’t put an economic value on that. I feel like AgVenture is just part of our big family, helping us out.”
