AgVenture® is excited to announce the inaugural winners of the first-ever yield contest for AgVenture customers. Beyond achieving top yields, these farmers, along with their Independent Seed Company found wins in plant health, return on investment, and continued partnerships. Congratulations to the 2025 AgVenture Gold Club winners.
Russell Hedrick, Hickory, NC, 311 bu/A yield with AV9916AM™
The highs and lows in moisture this past season didn’t defer Russell Hedrick who farms about 1,000 acres of corn, soybeans and specialty crops in Hickory, North Carolina.
“For the roller coaster year we had, I’m extremely happy with the entry north of 300 (bu/A).”
He likes a flex style ear and the winning AgVenture hybrid has shown good late season stand.
“We call AV9916AM the King of the Corn, it gets our best ground, the plant health has been extremely good for our area, and the stalk quality’s been excellent as well.”
It’s the customer service and the consistent performance that Russell attributes to why he favors AgVenture over other seed brands.
“I’ve always recommended AgVenture because of the people, the knowledge they bring to my farm. We also continue to see that AgVenture seed is consistently a better hybrid on our farm versus other brands - giving us a better return on investment.”
William Tyndall, Clinton, NC, 76 bu/A yield with AV54A1E
North Carolina grower William Tyndall achieved a milestone on his Clinton-area farm: a record soybean yield of 76 bu/A on his winning 100-acre field.
“Normally we average around 40 to 50 bushels on that field, but this year was saw over a 20-bushel increase.”
Variety selection is always strategic for his operation. Each year he chooses a mix of maturities, and for this winning field, the nematode package and 5.4 maturity made AgVenture 54A1E the right fit
“It’s a short window when we have the team here to harvest and I like that this variety is flexible - the beans are ready early, and they hold for a long time.”
William relies on side-by-side comparisons and independent trials on his own acres. It’s the same approach he encourages other growers to take.
“Do your own trials – just give it a try, put AgVenture seed side by side and see for yourself.”
Nick Deimeke, Mexico, MO, 234 bu/A yield with AV9916AM™
Nick Deimeke, alongside his father Kenny, and brother Matt, farm several thousand acres of corn, soybeans and winter wheat in Mexico, Missouri. They were thrilled to see a 234 bu/A yield average with AV9916AM™, a record yield for that farm.
“When I told the landlord what it made this fall, he said that’s the best corn he’s ever seen on that piece of land.”
Nick likes the idea that both AgVenture and his independent seed dealer, Wehmeyer Seed are truly local.
“With AgVenture we like that they control their seed quality. We’ve compared seed quality studies off and on and we know that we’re getting the best. We like the higher rates of seed treatment on AgVenture corn and that hybrids are picked for our area – they handle our wet fields and our hot temperatures.”
Going into next year, he’s also looking forward to trying some of the new AgVenture hybrids and varieties coming out.
“It seems like this new class of AgVenture seed is really going to be something we can move forward with. The technology going into Powercore® and Enlist® traits seem to be bringing better plant health and then you know, better yield. It’s really kind of exciting.”
Myron, Jon & Craig Blunier, Eureka, IL, 284 bu/A yield with AV6010
Family-owned businesses are important to Jon Blunier, his father Myron and brother Craig who not only farm corn and soybeans but also build custom pole barns and provide snow removal during the winter around Eureka, Illinois.
“Small companies, family-owned companies, that’s who we like to work with – because we know the family dynamic is important to them.”
Not really expecting it, they were excited when their 110 day, AgVenture 6010AV™ yielded an average of 284 bu/A, a record yield for that field.
“It was one of the most evenly emerged fields that we had, the stand was great and even though we had a dry August – it did really well.”
Over the years they have continued to plant AgVenture seed because of the success they’ve had.
“There are a lot of good AgVenture hybrids and varieties, but the biggest thing is the ROI. You look at what is the price for bag and the people you’re buying from.”
